The aroma of this exceptional London Dry Gin hints at its ancient gin recipe. Indeed, it is one of the oldest in existence. As early as 1888 – when political resistance to foreign influence in Italy at the turn of the century prohibited the use of the word “gin” – the first batches were produced under the name “Ginepro della Alpi” and were, in effect, an ode to the primary ingredient of this spirit: hand-picked juniper berries from the Piedmont mountains!
The production of Bordiga Occitan Gin
The other botanicals are of equally exquisite quality. Angelica adds complexity to this London Dry Gin, while cardamom and coriander imbue it with a touch of the Orient. The ingredients are steeped in wheat alcohol for up to 72 hours. The essential oil is extracted using traditional methods, without modern equipment, and then naturally macerated. This exceptional gin is produced in-house using an old, wood-fired still dating back to the 18th century. Orange and lemon peels infuse the alcohol after distillation, and natural paper filters made of pure cellulose filter the gin. It is then stored in cool conditions in the distillery’s cellars for up to 20 days before reaching its perfect maturity.
